Digital Probe Thermometer

Cooking Tip:
Get yourself a Digital Probe Thermometer. These things are life savers. I no longer have to remember how long it takes to cook certain meats at certain temps. Make sure it can handle going in the oven (the probe not the thermometer read out device. Having a temperature alarm also helps out a ton. Set the temp and walk away. The one pictured here is the one I have (only $25). It has many different meat settings (beef, pork, etc) at different cooking temps (rare, medium rare...etc) so I don't even have to remember what temp a medium steak is. Either way this will change your cooking for ever.

Baked Flowering Apples

so i'm not the greatest at creating deserts and this one wasn't perfect either (needed more baking time) but even so, it was pretty. here is what i  (from what i can remember).

i took three apples, and used a nifty apple core'r. i made sure that it didn't go all of the way through, this left it in the flower'd shape.

placed them on a baking pan with aluminum foil.
sprinkled on cinnamon and splendia (mari and i gave up sugars for the week).
drizzled vanilla extract over them and then placed them in the oven.
when i took them out they looked like this
since we were ready for desert i took them out a bit too early (note to self cook longer, so they are softer)
they tasted good, not great, but def good.

we didn't have any ice cream so i put vanilla yogurt on them which was delicious

enjoy

Food Disclaimer

i like to cook. i enjoy the fact that it allows me to be creative when most of what i do doesn't allow that. typically i don't follow directions when i cook (unless backing FOLLOW DIRECTIONS WHEN BAKING!!!) and i'm okay with making food taste bad, i.e learn from mistakes. please enjoy some of my creations.
